Common Auto Injuries We Treat
At The Movement Matrix we pride ourselves on taking care of our auto accident patients. Clear and concise diagnosis will be made using state of the art imaging procedures to ensure that all of your injuries are well documented and we can get you back to living pain free.
Disk Injuries

-
The intervertebral disk is a structure in your spine that connects the bones (vertebrae) together.
-
The disk is made up of an internal gel like substance (Nucleus Pulposus) and an outer layer of tough ligamentous tissue (Annulus Fibrosus) that function to resist excessive motion at the spine and absorb external forces.
-
It is common during an auto accident for the outer layer to receive too much external force and tear - potentially causing the internal gel-like Nucleus to "herniate" outward and compress or irritate spinal nerve roots.
-
This can lead to numerous symptoms:
-
Radiating pain down the arm or leg
-
Numbness/tingling/loss of sensation
-
Localized pain
-
Muscle weakness
-
-
Diagnosis is made through physical examination and confirmed on MRI.
Spinal Ligament Injurues

-
The spinal support ligaments are tough bands of connective tissue that help stabilize the spine, limit excessive movement, and protect the spinal cord.
-
Spinal support ligaments are even more likely to be injured in an auto accident than the intervertebral disc and can lead to debilitating symptoms such as:
-
Sharp, shooting pain
-
Balance issues
-
Visual disturbance
-
Headaches/migraine
-
Tinnitus
-
Facial numbness or tingling
-
Dizziness or vertigo
-
-
Diagnosis can only be made through special testing that we use at our clinic to confirm the location and severity of the ligament damage. X-rays will be performed in various positions and an independent analysis will be done by software using the latest AI technology.

Traumatic Brain Injury
A Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is a disruption of normal brain function caused by an external force, such as your head making contact with your headrest or steering wheel during a car accident.

We screen all of our patients for TBI symptoms during the initial evaluation ensure that we do not miss any potential trauma to the brain. If it is determined that you might have a TBI we will refer you out to a trusted neurologist for further diagnostic testing and evaluation.
Symptoms of TBI: Mild(Concussion):

-
Headache
-
Confusion
-
Dizziness
-
Nausea or vomiting
-
Temporary loss of consciousness
-
Memory issues
-
Sensitivity to light/noise
Symptoms of a Moderate to Severe TBI:

-
Prolonged loss of consciousness (>30 minutes)
-
Persistent confusion or disorientation
-
Severe headache
-
Vomiting
-
Seizures
-
Weakness or numbness in limbs
-
Slurred speech
